Architectural eclecticism and Medieval mysticism.
A castle, a convent and a ducal palace, built during distinct moments in time, gave rise to a beautiful work of eclectic architecture located in Crato, that arrives to the present day restored and transformed into the Pousada Mosteiro do Crato - Monument Hotel.
The history of this building begins in mid 14th century, when it was built by friar Álvaro Gonçalves Pereira, master of the religious and military Order of Malta that came to be based in the town of Crato.
Throughout time, this ecclesiastical complex of Flor da Rosa was subject to several interventions, visible in the architectural details from various periods, starting in the late 20th century its new life as a hotel.
The renewal process was able to potentiate the most genuine characteristics of the monument, introducing modern elements and decoration of contemporary design, with integral respect for its origins.
Nowadays we are received by a considerate team that invites us to appreciate the harmonious contrast between the old and the new, to feel the comfort of all of the nooks and crannies, to taste the regional flavours prepared in the restaurant and enjoy a special stay in the Pousada Mosteiro do Crato - Monument Hotel.
